I INTRODUCE MYSELF

GOOD MORNING!
My vocations
As a perinatal nurse and doula
I will really be able to inform you about both sides of the coin and precisely offer you more strategies. As a nurse in the delivery room and on the postpartum unit (after birth), I have a lot of experience in supporting moms and dads. I have followed both moms who used natural methods and moms who opted for the epidural.
I could give you a privileged insight into how it works in the hospital. I have been at the bedside of mothers during epidurals and cesareans. I have had the honor of being there in the very first moments of the baby's life and providing first aid. I have supported many mothers to breastfeed or bottle feed. I have answered the many concerns and questions of families in addition to preparing them for their return home.
Like Mom
In addition, thanks to my experience as a mother, I can and I really want to speak to you with my heart and connect with you. From parents to parents, with humanity and a touch of humor, I want to leave you all my baggage so that you are not only ready for the arrival of your baby but also confident.
My story
I have always loved newborns and have an interest in everything related to pregnancy and childbirth. During my nursing studies and during a humanitarian trip to Cameroon, I followed a few pregnant mothers and attended births. It really gave me the bug.
Pregnant with my first baby, I had so many questions! Plus, with all the information on the internet, I sometimes felt overwhelmed or lost between all the different approaches. Waiting for a birth represents so many unknowns. I had thought about taking prenatal classes, but due to lack of time, I dove into my books. If I had to do it again, let me tell you that I would be the first to sign up!
The delivery went well, however breastfeeding did not work and I had a very difficult time with it. "What kind of mother was I going to be if I wasn't even able to breastfeed my child!" With the hormones playing yo-yo and the lack of sleep, let's say I had a nasty baby blues. This reaffirmed my will to support women in these moments.
Throughout my reading, my deliveries and my children, I have learned many lessons. Finally having some time after my third child, I signed up for a Doula course at Mère et Monde. I loved this training so much. It was a revelation for me and I am even more passionate than ever. I even chose to change my career direction and now, I work as a nurse in the delivery room and on the postpartum unit (the unit where we recover after giving birth). I could not have dreamed of a more beautiful vocation and each time, I feel privileged and humbled to witness this wonderful and emotional moment.
MY TRAINING
Nurse (since 2009). Previously, I worked in pediatrics, intensive care and in the community, in CLSC. I worked as a nurse in the delivery room and on the postpartum unit (after delivery) for 2 years before launching into Naissance en pleine confiance.
Educator for Tummy Talk prenatal classes since 2022 and I also led prenatal sessions for the CIUSSS de l'Ouest de l'île de Montréal.
Doula Training, given by Mother and World
Certified in Thompson Method Breastfeeding plus 20 hours of advanced breastfeeding training
Mom (and yes, that takes a capital M because it's quite a title) of 5 beautiful children. Training in the school of life if you can say so!!
Facilitator for the post-natal support group at the West Island Women's Centre.
As a passionate person, I also studied the approaches of Julie Bonapace (Bonapace method for relieving pain), Dr. Lamaze (the basis of many prenatal classes and the fundamental principles for promoting a physiological birth), Bernadette de Gasquet (position and mobilization during labor and pushing) etc. Day by day, I continue to learn.
